Things to do:

  • Edit the content of the pages within the documentation page. Spelling, grammar, clarity... remember your English lessons!
  • ensure all links are valid. There's going to be some invalid ones during the move to categories. See below.
  • Ensure that all commands and system variables are properly cross linked with "see also" section.
  • Match formatting on all pages (notes, examples, sections, etc...). See the bullet below re: notes. Also, I've started putting the documentation itself into a table. seems to me that it's more readable.
  • Added some color in strategic locations. pure black and white is tiring to the eyes after a while, I find.
  • One of the primary uses so far is "notes". Simply put the note in a one-cell table with the appropriate background color. I started using honeydew... *shrug*
  • Remove initevents from all examples! <- pet peeve :<

Thanks Boydon!

  • Move all the "user notes" to the normal documentation, and remove the user notes.
  • admins: add namespaces for foreign language pages! these have got to get started sometime. :)

I imagine right off the bat that Una will be willing to do Finnish translations (when he's ready to return), and Orngrimm can start with the German pages. We'll need to find someone to do Spanish and (god help us) Russian and Portuguese as well, as those languages certainly need some native language support. Anyone know if they can convince the .wza to come over and start on some French pages? *grin* This is actually covered by Categories. See below.

  • Categories. Currently moving pages into categories. after everything in the documentation section is in the proper category, the regular documentation page can be orphaned and we can change the link from the main page. This facilitates disambiguation (for example, str the command and str the system variable), language pages, TOC issues, etc...
  • While I'm at categorization, I've been making the pages both more colorful and less "busy". For example, System Variables dont need a Description section, just start with the description.
  • formatted a few command pages tonight. The synopsys section is similar (to me) to the description section that was in variables. I don't know, open to suggestions.
  • Added a template for a navigation footer. It's pretty spartain right now, but that can be fixed as we learn more.
